CAIR Georgia Speaks at Unitarian Christian Conference

(HAMPTON, GA – 4/30/16) CAIR Georgia recently took part in an interfaith dialogue at the 25th Theological Conference of the Restoration Fellowship. During the annual gathering of Christian Unitarians, Executive Director Mitchell delivered a presentation about Islam before sitting down with Sir Anthony Buzzard, an Oxford-educated theologian who teaches at Atlanta Bible College, to discuss similarities and differences between Unitarian Christianity and Islam.

“Interfaith dialogue is one of the most important activities that people of faith can pursue,” said Mitchell. “Engaging in such dialogue gives us a chance to learn about each other and from each other. This allows us to recognize common beliefs and common values, both of which can form the basis of mutual respect and cooperation.”

Unitarian Christianity, whose followers have included Isaac Newton and several of America’s Founding Fathers, share the Muslim and Jewish belief in the oneness of God.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
