Georgia Activists to March in Protest Against Pres. Trump’s Embassy Move, Gaza Killings; Groups Call for End to Atlanta Police Training with Israeli Government

Screen Shot 2018 05 16 at 9.46.00 PMATLANTA, GA – 5/15/2018) On Tuesday, May 15th, a coalition of Georgia activists plans to hold an interfaith march to protest President Trump’s decision to move the American Embassy in Jerusalem, as well as the the killing of 58 Palestinian protesters at the hands of Israeli snipers.
 
During the protest, Jewish Voice for Peace-Atlanta, Black Lives Matter-Atlanta, the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR Georgia), and ten other local groups plan to call for an end to the Georgia Law Enforcement Exchange Program, which sends Georgia police officers overseas to receive training from Israel and other foreign governments.

WHERE: Centennial Olympic Park (Meet at Marietta Street Corner)
WHEN: Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 at 7 pm
 
Scheduled speakers include Dr. Ilise Cohen of Jewish Voice for Peace-Atlanta, Edward Ahmed Mitchell of CAIR Georgia, and Rev. Fahed Abu-Akel, a Palestinian Christian who was the first Arab-American elected to the lead the Presbyterian Church USA.
