RuwaonCBS(ATLANTA, GA, 4/17/17) – The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Georgia) today offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who allegedly ripped the Islamic head scarf (hijab) off a 14-year-old Muslim girl while calling her a “terrorist.”
On Friday, April 14, a man reportedly ripped the teenager’s head scarf off as he called her “Terrorist” in the parking lot outside Maggiano’s Restaurant at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody, Ga. The girl reported that she was walking with an adult and two other teenagers when the attack occurred.

The Dunwoody Police Department has agreed to thoroughly investigate the incident.

“We thank local law enforcement for pledging to investigate this despicable attack, which is the latest in a wave of anti-Muslim hate crimes across the nation,” said Edward Ahmed Mitchell, executive director of CAIR-Georgia. “It is long past time for our political leaders, starting with President Trump, to condemn and combat this wave of Islamophobia.”

“We call on the person responsible for this attack to come forward, take responsibility and apologize to the victim and her family,” said Mitchell. “If the suspect does so immediately and voluntarily, the family will ask law enforcement to resolve his case without a criminal conviction.”
