(ATLANTA, GA – 3/27/17) The Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations today announced that it has hired Ruwa Romman to serve as its Director of Communications starting on April 3rd. Romman is set to oversee the civil rights organization’s internal and external communications, including public relations, social networking, government outreach, and fundraising appeals.
“We’re beyond excited to welcome Ruwa Romman to the CAIR Georgia team as we serve, protect and advocate for Georgia Muslims,” said Edward Ahmed Mitchell, executive director of CAIR Georgia. “A thoughtful and driven young activist, Ruwa has developed an amazing amount of knowledge, talent and experience. We thank God for the opportunity to bring her aboard.”
Romman has previously served as a development coordinator for Points of Light, a field coordinator for the Georgia Muslim Voter Project, and a marketing consultant with the National Center for Civil & Human Rights. She was also elected president of the Student Government Association during her undergraduate studies at Oglethorpe University.
Romman is the latest new staffer that CAIR Georgia has hired in 2017. Asma Elhuni now serves as CAIR Georgia’s Outreach Director, overseeing collaboration with civil rights groups, political activists, and community leaders outside the Muslim community.
