CAIR-Georgia Condemns DeKalb County Judge Stacey Hydrick’s Biased Statements on Palestinians and Demands Resignation

(ATLANTA, GA, 2/24/2025) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations – Georgia (CAIR-Georgia) today condemned the recently deleted social media post from DeKalb County Judge Stacey Hydrick, in which she asserted that “there are no innocent civilians in Gaza” and that all “Gazans were celebrating and gloating over their brutal murder of Jews.”

In a statement, CAIR-GA said:

“These comments, posted on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, demonstrate a clear bias against Palestinians and Muslims, severely undermining public trust in the impartiality of the judiciary. Judge Hydrick doubled down on her anti-Palestinian opinions while engaging with commenters, including two Palestinian lawyers from Georgia whose family members were recently killed by the IDF in Gaza.

“This conduct violates Canon 2 (Impartiality) of the Georgia Code of Judicial Conduct and could necessitate recusal under Rule 2.11 (Disqualification). It is deeply concerning that Judge Hydrick, who chairs the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission, exhibits such extreme bias, rendering her unfit to serve as a fair and impartial adjudicator, legal entity member, or law educator.

“CAIR-Georgia calls on Judge Stacey Hydrick to issue a public apology for her hateful anti-Palestinian remarks and resign from her position on the Georgia Judicial Qualifications Commission. We further call upon Emory University to immediately sever ties with Judge Hydrick as an adjunct professor and upon the DeKalb and Atlanta Bar Associations to terminate their association with Judge Hydrick due to her racist and biased remarks.”

CAIR-Georgia’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
